Where, oh where, is Susanna?

I’m sure that’s the question everyone has been asking after my two week absence.  The answer is that I’ve become a HGTV addict.  Thanks to my friends, Amy & Rees, I am now addicted.  Color Splash, Design Star, My First Place, House Hunters, My House is Worth What?, etc.  It’s all sucked me in.  I’d never watched that channel before – can you believe that?  Well, what did I do on Labor Day weekend?  Watched a heckuva lot of HGTV.  However, I also started a new little gardening project on my patio – back in June I bought the cutest little mini greenhouse at Ikea, and I finally put it together and planted the herb seeds that I bought at the $1 Spot at Target a couple of months ago – in a couple of months, I’ll have fresh thyme, basil, oregano and chives, which will complement my already flourishing four-foot tall tomato plant.  YAY!

Luxurious bathroom

60s doesn’t even begin to describe this bathroom… it was a combo of powder room/toilet & shower room, toilet was about the size of one for a midget, and had a HUGE rust ring all down in it.  Bamboo wallpaper, dark green trim paint as well as the sink vanity.  Vanity top was cream marble with dark green swirls in it, and the light fixtures looked like globes from hades.

AFTER (ripped out the tub, tile, drywall, flooring & subflooring, toilet, sink, vanity, light fixtures, basically everything.  Oh, and we knocked out the wall between powder and shower rooms)…

New hallway light

Ok, so remember that heinous light fixture in the hallway?

After much deliberation, I decided to replace the light fixture :-)

New kitchen!

Before (these pictures do not EVEN do the ugly kitchen justice… white counters with gold flecks, yellowed faux-wood cabinets lined w/the old 80s contact paper – ducks w/blue bows around their necks, gold linoleum, gold dishwasher, fridge that smelled like Satan’s feet, etc)

yes yes yes, I know, I know

I’ve been M-I-A.  I know, I KNOW.

So sorry, but my life has been a bit crazy this summer.  The other day I sat down and reviewed what all has happened this summer, and here’s a run down, in case you’d like to know…

Since June 1 (that’s 2 1/2 months):

# of Places I’ve lived: 3

# of Trips I’ve taken (mostly for work): 6

# of Days I’ve been stressed and worked late this summer: a minimum of once a week (and anyone who knows me KNOWS it has to be serious when I work late… lol)

# of New family members: 1

# of Rooms I’ve painted: 4

# of Condos I’ve had to entirely decorate: 1

# of Housewarming parties that I had one week to prepare for: 1

Time for friends: Almost none, and I’m so sorry!

So, alas, I know it’s no excuse, but still, that’s been my life this summer.  However, I was FINALLY able to take a week’s vacation and headed down to beautiful Seagrove Beach, Florida, for a blissful week at the beach to cook and boil myself to a nice golden brown on sand, in lawn chair, in salt water and pool.  Last week my best friend and old college roomie, Lindsay, and I did absolutely nothing but sleep, sit in the sun, watch movies (yes, that’s right, Katie, we watched MOVIES while we were at the beach) and read.  It was fabulous, and I feel like a new woman now.  I hadn’t realized how badly I needed a full week’s vacation – my brain was certainly fried at work, and it’d been three years since I took a full week off at one time.  It was completely worth it.

Now, I know, several people have emailed me about final condo pictures, and I have taken some of them, but I have two more rooms to photograph, and I hope to do that this evening and post the pics tomorrow, so be on the lookout!

Just what I’ve always wanted to become… a Simpson!

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a sucker for a great online interactive marketing gimmic.  Snakes on a Plane prank phone calls from Samuel L.?  Totally.  Romantic calls from Fabio thanks to “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter”?  Hilarious – sent it to all my friends.  Creating my own Simpson lookalike?  It was fun, but I’m not sure how accurate.  See me as a Simpson!
