Ever since my hair grew long again, I’ve had issues with my hairbrushes. Of course, yes, I buy the cheap $6 ones at my favorite store, Target, but still. The hairbrushes that I’ve purchase in the past have all been the ones with the cheap plastic bristles. So, every day I would pull a huge wad of hair out of my brushes.
Scared of being the next woman featured in a Rogaine “This is the face/head of female-patterned baldness” ad, I decided to bite the bullet and consider a boar bristle brush. I’ve heard the wonderfulness of the boar bristle brush touted (tout tout!) in numerous magazine, hair styling shows, etc, but come on… I’m not shoving out $80 for a stinkin hair brush that I will probably lose the next time I go on a trip. So, at another shopping trip to my beloved Target the other day, I noticed that Conair has come out with 100% boar bristle hairbrushes for just $9.99! Ok, for all you skeptics, yes, probably the boar bristles aren’t perhaps as soft or as luxurious (read – EXPENSIVE – I think that sometimes people think things are automatically better and of higher quality just b/c they’re more costly) as the one that Frederic Fekkai makes or something, but you can’t beat the price.
Today was the first day that I blew my hair out using the new brush, and I had a whopping total of two, yes TWO, hairs in the brush when I finished. Plus, my hair is shinier, has more body and generally looks better than it usually does! Do you think it’s all in my head? I think not. For anyone who has a lot of hair but it is really thin, I highly recommend a boar bristle brush!!!
